What praxis ii should i take

How can you know which one to take? Every state has different testing requirements for the various teaching licenses they issue. Teacher training programs want their students to succeed, and they have a close working relationship with local public school districts and state teacher licensing agencies. And a teacher training program is likely to also know the Praxis II requirements for other states in its region. In fact, your professors, advisers, and mentors will probably be willing and able to help you find the licensing requirements for more distant states, if you are considering a relocation after you graduate.

Often, different states have slightly different Praxis requirements for the same subject. For example, one state might ask you to take the English Language Arts: Content and Analysis Praxis II exam, while another might ask you to take the Content Knowlege variation of this test.

If you truly want to maximize your possibilities in multiple states, you can take the complete range of Praxis IIs required by multiple states. To make best use of your time plan to go through it two or even three times.

On the first pass, answer only those questions you are sure you know the answer to without a lot of thought. Mark the questions you didn't answer with an X, but put a question mark by an answer you think might be correct but would need more time to make sure.

On the second pass, go through and answer all those questions you thought you knew the answer to the first time. Now you've got a little time to think about the other answers; remember, knowing that one or more of the options is wrong can be a big help in getting the right answer. On your third pass, tackle the questions you didn't have a clue about the first time. Hopefully there won't be many and you'll be able to take some time with each knowing that you have already answered most of the questions.

A few key things to remember about the multiple choice part of the test:. Middle School Social Studies This test consists of two parts to be completed in minutes. The first part consists of ninety multiple-choice questions Apr. This part seeks to primarily test the applicant's content knowledge.

The second part, which consists of three multidisciplinary constructed essays, tries to measure the applicant's ability to apply knowledge and skill in one integrated exercise.

One will receive at least 1 question, which combines US History with Government and Civics, and 1 question, which combines World History with Geography. Manage your time carefully: 90 minutes for multiple choice, 30 minutes for essays. For hints on how to answer the multiple choice portion, see above.

For the constructed part:. Praxis II is suggested to be taken right before or during student teaching. The test is comprehensive and covers material learned in all education classes, so for this reason the test should be taken after all course work has been finished.

Student teaching allows the future teacher to spend time focusing on Praxis II preparations if necessary. Do you offer workshops? You can still possibly take the test on a standby basis. You must arrive early at the test center and you may be accommodated if that testing area has seats open-up due to no-shows or under-booking.

If you are able to take the test on a standby there is a fee in addition to the normal registration and test fees. If you qualify for the waiver AND your scores appear in PeopleSoft, you do not have to request test scores. If you did not include UConn as a score recipient, you must contact ETS and have them send us a score report.

Overall, the earlier you take the Subject Assessment, the earlier you are able to check off the requirement, insuring fewer complications with your certification papers. Subject Assessment are held according to the ETS schedule and are generally scheduled during the academic year.

Therefore, you must plan ahead to make sure your test scores arrive in plenty of time to support your certification process. We recommend that you prepare for the test test preparation material on ETS website and in HuskyCT cohort site for current students. Take the test s early enough so that, if you do not pass, you will have a chance to take the exam again before you complete the program. The state of Connecticut also requires teacher education program students to complete the performance-based, subject-specific assessment edTPA.
