Where to find enchanting items in skyrim
Their natural talents and orderly civilization make them well rounded in many aspects, including great potential for magic. The next is the Altmer. Also called high elves, these mer are the most magically gifted out of all the currently playable races.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Orsimer. They may at first seem brutish, however, the orcs are incredibly gifted when it comes to smithing and crafting, making them the best race for players looking to craft the best items as soon as possible. Enchantments are classified into two broad categories: weapon enchantments and armor enchantments.
Those that go on weapons like bows, swords, or axes pertain to what effects can be used to harm foes or benefit the player. With each attack, however, the charge of these enchanted weapons will decrease and must be refilled with a soul when the charge bar runs dry. The boons placed upon one's armor do not deplete after time or usage, appearing as a constant effect that is applied to the wearer.
There are certain enchantments that only work on specific kinds of armor. The Waterbreathing enchantment can only be given to a helmet and Muffle can only be applied to boots.
At the start of the game, the Dragonborn won't know any enchantments. They all must be found upon items looted from the world and then disenchanted to learn them. This can make learning every possible enchantment take quite a long time, as where and how enchanted items spawn tends to be random. How powerful an enchantment is on a found weapon, piece of armor, or bit of jewelry will not affect how powerful the learned version is.
Things that are disenchanted get destroyed, so be sure not to accidentally break down anything that has a better enchantment on it that one can make themselves. It should also be mentioned that certain quest items cannot be disenchanted, as that would require breaking them.
The two easiest and most common ways to level up the Enchanting skill are by disenchanting items or recharging enchanted weapons with filled soul gems. How much experience is gained upon disenchanting an item is directly correlated to how powerful the enchantment is, with the stronger ones being worth more. Even though enchantments can only be learned once, items with known ones can still be broken down for experience points. Recharging an enchanted weapon yields experience based on how big the soul is that gets used, with grand and black soul gems being worth the most.
All regular soul gems will be destroyed when the souls within them get used up, which makes the hunt for them ever-important. You can place two enchantments on one item with the Extra Effect Perk from level Enchanting. You can boost your Enchants using potions of Fortify Enchanting. These can be bought in shops or crafted with Alchemy yourself. You cannot enchant gear with Fortify Enchanting, but you can push the strength of your potions by using Fortify Alchemy on gear.
The process goes like this:. Repeat this process, on a second set of gear that will have an even stronger Fortify Alchemy boost. Wearing a Falmer Helmet with a Circlet is a bug exploit, but will allow you to wear two helmets to get double the Fortify Alchemy boost. By the way, if you have the Extra Effect perk, you can make your Alchemy Gear also boost Smithing, so that you have a great set of crafting gear!

Totally optional, just like the next. Soul Siphon level 40 Enchanting Skill required Killing creatures but not people will recharge a weapon by a small degree, which can return some of your charge costs, making magical weapons last longer.
Not necessary to be a great Enchanter. Very important when trying to make the most powerful enchants, as it will boost your Fortify Alchemy enchants on your crafting gear.
Fire deals the most direct damage. I consider this one important, you may not need the other two damaging types as badly. Frost damage reduces Stamina along with health. Shock damage reduces Magicka along with health. Extra Effect level Enchanting Skill required Add a second magical effect when Enchanting a piece of gear.
Absolutely essential to make a great Enchanter. It allows you to become incredibly powerful, along with your other skill perks - no matter your build. How to Enchant Here's a quick summary of how to enchant an item. Head to an Arcane Enchanter with a soul gem that contains a soul. You can find one in whiterun in the castle, Farengar Secret-Fire's room near the throne.
Bring up the menu by activating the enchanter and select the item you'd like to enchant OR disenchant which teaches you how to do that enchantment.
You can now choose a weapon, armor, or jewelry to enchant. Different item types accept different enchantments. Select the enchantment and its strenght, where applicable. If none are available, you first need to disenchant items to learn those enchantments. Pick the soul gem you'd like to use. Note that some strong enemies completely ignore this spell. Like Fear and Turn Undead, it's usually the strongest at lower levels in the early game.
Good old Frost Damage is one of the easiest and most common enchantments to find in Skyrim , and because of that, players will often end up carrying at least one weapon with this enchantment on it.
That being said, it's not a bad enchantment at all despite being easy to find in loot. Frost Damage is great because it slows the enemy down, and without proper resistance, it can be devastating against enemies particularly weak to frost magic. Put this enchantment on any sword or bow, and hitting the target that suffers from the slowness and chipped Stamina caused by it will be easy to finish off quickly.
The perk of Fire Damage is that it will continue to affect the target over time with flames. This can be a great annoyance to them and will allow the player easily to rack up damage against their enemies. Moreover, Fire Damage interacts with the environment quite nicely, especially if there are oil surfaces or anything explosive around. Although very basic and common source, it's an excellent source of extra elemental damage. It's one of the most powerful and unique enchantments in the entire game.
As such, it can affect all three of the enemy's basic attributes as well, which means the player will never have to choose which category to specialize in.
At worst, the enemy will take damage to their health, stamina and Magicka pool, making this an absolute nightmare to deal with. Various Stahlrim weapons might carry this enchantment, as will the unique weapon Champion's Cudgel, which can be looted off of General Falx Carius during the quest March of the Dead.
Very similar in theory to the Absorb Stamina enchantment, Stamina Damage might be often considered as something situational or very niche. However, think about how many times the Dragonborn is pitted against heavy attacking bandit leaders or Draugr Lords. This weapon enchantment is definitely a powerful one. One hit from a weapon enchanted with Stamina Damage will remove 15 Stamina out of an enemy's stamina pool, which is especially good after they've used a power attack on the Dragonborn.
They'll be rendered pretty much useless after a few hits, unable to perform power attacks. Just like Absorb Magicka, Magicka Damage attacks the Magicka pool of the enemy and is especially insidious against mages. When dealing with particularly strong Magicka users, having an enchantment like this on the player's side will make things much easier. Since mages tend to rely solely on their magic and will only ever carry a dagger as a weapon, it's a fantastic way of essentially disarming an enemy with a few hits.
Some might argue that Soul Trap isn't an all too important enchantment, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Any player wanting to use weapon enchantments regularly will need to have charged Soul Gems at their disposal, which can either be bought or charged manually with souls. It's especially great on weapons that can be used as one-hit weapons after the target is already weakened, in order to secure a filled soul gem within a short time span. There really isn't anything better than an enchantment that takes health from the opponent and transfers it to the player themselves.
It's why Absorb Health is the best weapon enchantment in Skyrim since it can really make fights much shorter than they would usually be. It also allows the player to save up greatly on potions or Restoration spells by not having to constantly heal themselves.
In Skyrim, there are a number of skills to learn. Here we list all the trainers in both the base game and DLC, what they teach and where to find them.
